7 Most Important Factors to Website Page Rank on Google
The number and quality of social media links in Google+ and Facebook are the most important factors in Google website page ranking position, according to the 2013 annual study by SearchMetrics.com.
Each year, SearchMetrics.com does an exhaustive analysis of webpages to determine what weight Google applies to each of several dozen factors when determining how high your website should place on Google. The higher the correlation, the more important the factor is in your website’s page rank. The top factors are:
• Google +1
• Facebook Shares
• Number of Backlinks
• Facebook Comments
• Facebook Likes
While most of the factors related to social media, the one that stands out on this list is “number of Backlinks.” Google gives credit for hot links to your website from other websites that are popular and have something to do with photography. For example, a link to your website from TheKnot.com would be very important, a link to your website from a vendors’s website would be less important, while a link from a paid link directory might actually hurt your Google page rank!
Note that while social media is the most important, SEO factors like keywords, text, and page description are still important too. It seems that Google considers a well-designed web page as a minimum requirement for high page rank.
