Over the last few weeks we have received reports of JDLab2You failing to properly launch and throwing an error that “Another version of ROES Web Start is already running”. It appears the culprit in this is AVG, a security program we have seen cause other issues with application launching.
The best solution is to set an Exception in AVG for ROESWebStart.exe in C:\Program Files (x86) as described below. This fix will work for both JDLab2You and JD Pick-a-Pack.
If you see the error, open AVG AntiVirus and select Options in the upper right. Select Advanced settings from the menu:
In the Advanced Settings window, select Exceptions and click Add exception:
Click “Select exception type” and choose “Application or File” from the list.
Click Browse in the new exception window.
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\ROES\.
Then go in the folder that starts with JDLab2You- followed by a long string of numbers.
Inside that folder, select ROESWebStart.exe and click OK:
All available options must be checked.
Click OK and then OK again to save the Exception:
