New Product: Metallic Canvas

March 19th, 2013

MetallicGalleryWrapsJD now offers ink jet printing directly on metallic canvas material, and the results are amazing. Compared to traditional canvas prints, the new material offers richer blacks, deeper saturated colors, and the iridescent quality of metallic paper combined with the unique texture of canvas. You have to see it to believe it.

Because these are such high-quality prints, we have decided to replace our traditional metallic paper bonded to canvas with this new product.

Photographers who have examined the difference are delighted with the new material, and we’re confident you will be too.

New JDLab2You Order Software

March 11th, 2013

jdlab2youAfter listening to clients tell us they were looking for a simpler way to order from us, we created JDLab2You. This program was designed for photographers and their staff who want an easy-to-use program featuring only our most popular products.

Here’s what you get:

• Easy to Use – imagine ordering a print with just mouse clicks only!

• Easy to Order – Need a photo book and a canvas gallery wrap in the same order? No problem!

• Products You Want – Only the most popular products ordered by pro photographers are included.

• Products You Need – Order a print for every retail frame size available.

• Modern Design – All new background designs, fonts and colors give your products a fresh, new look.

For our current clients, you can still use ROES Pro, or you can use both programs side-by-side on your Mac or PC. You will still need to use ROES Pro if you need sports and school templates, or non-color corrected (econo) printing. Both these will be rolled out as separate catalogs in JDLab2You in the upcoming weeks.

“JD wants YOU to suck more…” Workshop Feb 20th

February 7th, 2013

Branding workshop for pro photographersAttend our FREE February 20th workshop at JD Photo Imaging in Flint, Michigan because we have no intention of telling you the truth.

Instead we’re going to teach you to tell a story, your story. This is a story about how to focus on why the best clients buy photography and then what stories to tell them that engage and motivate them to buy from you.

Don’t get the wrong idea. This hands-on event won’t be about tactics or spin or little things that might work. This is a whole new way of attention-getting. Either you’re going to tell stories that increase sales, or you will remain poorly paid and under-appreciated.

Why great stories are important and why you should attend.

Great stories, not pricing promotions, succeed because they capture the imagination of clients who will appreciate your photography and who will pay a premium for it.

You should attend if:

  • you would like to stand out from a growing number of competitors.
  • you would like to have something to motivate people with- other than a price discount.
  • you would like to be able to easily, and repeatedly, tell people what you have that no other photographer has.

What you’ll take home:

  • Confidence that you know what it takes to attract people without price discounts.
  • Copy of:
    • 7 Shocking Myth-busters
    • Laws of Branding
    • Nine Factors Women Use to Choose a Brand
    • Marketing Outline
    • Photoshop Product Feature Templates

Boutique Packaging Updated for 2013

January 17th, 2013

Boutique packaging for professional photographersFor years, consumer studies have shown a direct correlation between premium packaging and the perceived value of a product. For example, one of the reasons consumers perceive Apple products as more valuable is the value added by their award-winning package designs. If you’ve ever unboxed an Apple PC, you know exactly what I mean.

The same holds true in photography. When someone picks up prints at a big-box store, they come in a boring envelope. You can use this opportunity to differentiate your professional photography by offering upscale packaging.

That’s why we’ve updated our Boutique Packaging options at JD. Each are sturdy fiberboard boxes in Asparagus, Coffee Bean or Merlot with cream tissue paper and ribbon. The professionally matched color combinations provide a clean, fresh, natural yet upscale look for your work. Yet the cost is only $5.50 for 8×10″ boxes and ribbon, $7.50 for 11×14″ boxes with ribbon, $11 for 16×20″ boxes with ribbon, and $5.00 for the gift bag.

Boutique Packaging can be used to present the prints to your clients, or to package drop-shipped print orders.

You can order Boutique Packaging in the ROES Order Review screen.
